She has worked as an illustrator and has taught Drawing and Painting at Sheridan College and George Brown College. Anne currently resides in Toronto.
About her Artwork:
Anne travels extensively throughout Canada and the United States on sketching trips for her source of inspiration whereupon she returns to her studio to work up her ideas to the final conception. This process allows her to pay meticulous attention to detail, which makes her work unique. Her favorite sketching locations are Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Cape Cod, Vermont and Maine.
In her landscapes, Anne's intention is to evoke a "sense of place" rather than a literal interpretation of the "locale". Botanical themes are often emphasized along with architectural forms, which serve as a metaphor for man's place in nature. Numerous viewers have commented on how her scenes remind them of where they have been or what they have experienced at certain periods in their lives.
Anne began her painting career with still life themes in Oils over twenty years ago before she became interested in painting landscapes. Every once in awhile, Anne feels compelled to paint a still life, particularly in watercolours. She is an avid gardener and a collector of antiques and handmade crafts. The still life is a natural extension of her work where her treasured objects are juxtaposed with botanical forms.
